Jean Nolet is an IISD Associate, primarily working with the Climate Change and Energy team. He is also president of ÉcoRessources Consultants, a Canadian firm specializing in the economics of natural resources and the environment, with offices in Quebec City, Montreal and Lima, Peru. His current work is focused on economic and policy analyses on climate change and agri-food issues. He has conducted numerous market studies and economic impacts assessments. Most notably, he has conducted several analyses of the factors influencing the competitiveness of different agricultural sectors, as well as analyses of the economic impacts of policies aiming to mitigate climate change.
He actively participated in various federal-provincial working groups, including the Domestic Emissions Trading Working Group, the Electricity Working Group, the Emission Allocation Working Group, and the Analysis and Modeling Working Group.
Mr. Nolet has worked in the field of environmental economics for nearly 15 years and specializes in economic and policy analysis of climate change and energy issues; market-based mechanisms; business-government relations; agri-economics; and economic impacts assessments.
Prior to establishing ÉcoRessources, he worked as a consultant, university researcher and economist with the Quebec Government. In the latter position, he worked at the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Environment analyzing Quebec’s energy and climate change policy options as well as the implications of the Canadian climate change policy for Quebec’s industries and economy.
