Dimple Roy’s work is focused on the areas of integrated water resources management, watershed governance, adaptive policy-making and sustainable agriculture.
As manager of -Sustainable Natural Resources Management Program, Ms Roy is the lead researcher on projects on watershed management in the Lake Winnipeg basin, watershed governance, the use of economic instruments for nutrient management in agricultural watersheds, and community-based adaptation in the Canadian prairies.
In addition, she works in partnership with provincial and federal agencies to develop programs and delivery mechanisms in water and agricultural management.
Before joining IISD, she was a policy analyst with Manitoba Conservation, conducted policy and legislative analysis and coordinated the Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development. She has also been an environmental consultant on issues ranging from environmental education, sustainable community development to governance structures for effective resource management.
Affiliations
Ms Roy is a member of the Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development and participates in its Climate Change and Water committees. She also sits on the Sustainability Awards Selection Panel and the Sustainable Report Review Task Group.
Education
- Master of Environmental Design (2002): Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary.
- Bachelor of Architecture (1996): Institute of Environmental Design, Gujarat, India.
- Her master’s dissertation comprised an evaluation of a sustainable community development project in Indian villages in the Himalayas. She has experience in urban design and development issues in India, Thailand and Canada.
